Muzammil Rafi - Success story
In 2012 I was homeless, no where to stay or take a shower and with no food to eat.
I discovered the Welcome Centre, who have helped me a lot and supported me. It was a place where I could take showers, eat a hot meal, get clothes, access to the internet, and attend a back to work classes from Monday –Friday. They also provided me money for travel. The Welcome Project helped me find shelter at the Redbridge Cold Weather Shelter, where I slept in 2012-2013.
Now my life has changed, Peter, my back to work mentor sent me on a Tunnelling Underground and Construction Academy (TUCA) Working at Height course. Through the course I got my CSCS card, PASMA card, Scaffolding card (Pre-employment Certificate from the National Construction College) and now I am working for a construction company, in SW1. I’m earning £7.50 per hour – Happy Days!
I cannot believe I am the same person. Life is much better, Sonia Shade, Ursula, Tariq, Jennifer and Beverley – Thanks everyone for supporting me, there are tears in my eyes with happiness
