The Welcome Project attends Buckingham Palace Garden Party for Queen's Award nominees
In recognition of the Welcome Project being nominated for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, we were invited to the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
On Thursday 6th June, three long serving volunteers, Carlene Grant, Chris Field and Myrtle Wright and Ursula Standen (Volunteer Co-ordinator) set off for the palace in a chauffeur driven car, kindly provided by UDN cars.
It was a glorious day and everyone really enjoyed the delicious tea (including cucumber sandwiches !) It was an amazing experience to see the Queen and other members of the royal family up close. It was also an opportunity to take in the views of the gardens and to be able to wander around the palace grounds. One volunteer said “it was a real privilege to be there, something I will never forget !”.
